Me: I’m going for my Ph.D. It’s a ton of school, but it’s worth it because I adore research
Him: Interesting. Hey, here’s a story, unrelated to anything we may be talking about right now. Once upon a time there was a girl who was going for an advanced degree. In, um… accounting. Yeah. And she got married in the middle of going for this degree, and the whole first year of her marriage she was working toward it, and it put a big strain their marriage. And then she had a baby, and she realized that she didn’t even want to use her degree, she just wanted to stay home and take care of her kids, and she had put her marriage through a lot of tzaros for nothing!
