A Jerusalem mother of seven, Serlin gave birth to a baby boy just two months after her eldest son, IDF soldier Yosef Haim Tzvi Serlin, was killed in a training accident. Reflecting on the birth, Serlin said, “I feel like I’m holding life at both of its ends,” and “I feel joy and pain at the same time. What helps most is simple, sincere participation in both.”
