I was dating a Russian girl and when I went to pick her up her father whispered to her in Russian that he wasn’t impressed with me as we were walking out. Little did he know I speak Russian… or at least I thought I did. I brought it up to her at the end of the date and she laughed. Turns out I completely misunderstood, he was saying he was finally impressed after being unimpressed with the last few guys she went out with. 3 years later were happily married and my father in law still laughs about the story.
