My son was at an upscale Manhattan hotel. He noticed that on the other side of the room there was a non Jewish woman examining a Borsalino, trying it on and adjusting its shape. Since in Manhattan you can meet all types, he assumed it was hers. A few minutes later, a bochur comes with his date to those seats and starts looking around for something.
He then walks over apologetically and asks my son if he noticed a hat on the coffee table…Well, it seems that they had walked away for a few minutes to order drinks and in the interim, this woman…probably assuming the hat was “hefker”, took it! And that left this guy hatless in Manhattan. Talk about an expensive date!💲💰
