We will IY”H be going to Eretz Yisroel for the Hakomas Matzeiva for Yisroel Z”L on Thursday January 24th. It is very meaningful to me that I will be able to share with Yisroel the amazing success story that is 10K Batay Yisroel. What started out at the levaya last Pesach as a plea to HKB”H to send down shidduchim to Klal Yisroel evolved into a movement that has captivated all those that have been exposed to the project.
The concept was simple – all of us should start feeling a sense of responsibility to think of shidduchim to help alleviate the tremendous backlog of singles waiting to find their bashert. If we down here will do our part, unquestionably Yisroel and Elisheva will approach the Kisei Hakovod and do their part.
The only question was if the concept would resonate with Klal Yisroel and would people respond and implement the idea. Would people believe in themselves that they could actually make a shidduch?
As the weeks started to go by it was amazing to watch the number of suggestions and first dates on the website start to grow and pick up a life of its own. Month after month the numbers kept increasing and finally the engagements started to register. When you read the 10K stories on the website and hear firsthand from all those (so far) 30 Yiddin who have had the awesome zchus to actually make a shidduch lilluy nishmas Yisroel and Elisheva, a”h, it is tremendously inspiring.
You can feel the elation coming through their words and it motivates all of us to keep trying to think of new suggestions to push the numbers higher and higher. As I write this there are currently over 5,500 suggestions and 700 first dates and 30 engagements!
I feel that the only obstacle really holding us back now is funding. We need to start advertising on a constant basis to really publicize the project in a major way to expose thousands of more people to 10K Batay Yisroel.
If anyone would like to help us by contributing to our project we would be very grateful. I can tell you as a fact that not one person working on 10K Batay Yisroel takes a penny for their efforts.
Every single person involved with this project is doing it purely l’shem shamayim. Hours and hours of work and creativity go into this project and it is our pleasure to do it.
We all share one thing in common – we want to bring happiness to the singles in Klal Yisroel and we want to bring zchusim to the holy neshamos of Yisroel and Elisheva, a”h.
