Last week we blogged about the importance of taking the time to think about what might be the top 5 qualities each of you believe are absolute necessities for your “bashert” to possess. To begin the process of dating without some kind of basic road map, including these top 5 attributes, is confusing at best and dangerous at worst.
We are anxious and excited about getting feedback from our readers. Both because it enables you all to pool ideas and feel connected, and also because it helps shine a light on what people are really thinking and feeling.
We’re thrilled to say that we got some wonderful responses and would like to share some of them with all of you and see if we can determine a take-away message.
Eddy – (1) respectful (2) thoughtful (3) confident (4) flexible (5) sense of humor
Naomi – (1) strong learner (2) good family (3) kind (4) smart (5) fun
Moshe – (1) confident (2) sweet (3) smart (4) athletic (5) easy-going
Toby – (1) non-judgmental (2) smart (3) sense of humor (4)) tall
(5) kind
“C” – (1) confident (2) comfortable with himself (3) good conversationalist (4) kind (5) handsome
Mark – (1) attractive (2) fun (3) kind (4) energetic (5) smart
Shira – (1) menschlich (kind/caring) (2) responsible (3) honest/yashor (4) mature (5) self motivated (ruchnius and otherwise)
Sandy – (1) honest (2) funny (3) sensitive (4) good communicator (5) kind
Ahuva – (1) smart (2) kind (3) energetic (4) generous (5) accepting
Danny – (1) “get’s it” (2) a giver (3) easy going (4) not moody (5) family oriented
O.K. – so we admit that this is a rather small sampling. However, it does tell a story. The quality that came up more often than any other quality was “kind.” After that came “smart.” “Sense of humor/funny” came in third place and “confident,” “fun,” “honest,” and “easygoing,” all get honorable mentions.
Why is this important? Because as we all continue to work on ourselves, not only because we want to market ourselves most successfully, but also because we want to be the very best we can be, in general, as members of the human community, it’s important to realize what qualities are most important and get really noticed.
Kindness clearly takes home the Olympic Gold Metal. And it’s something that we can all embrace without too much effort. We can all try harder to be mindful of it’s power and work toward incorporating it into our everyday, moment to moment behavior.
Clearly, people also appreciate brain power, but let’s not underestimate the importance of a good laugh! Make someone laugh till they cry! It doesn’t get better than that.
Thank you all for your participation in this little questionnaire and we at The Navidaters look forward to future insightful dialogue with all of you.
Sincerely,
The Navidaters
