Close View of a DNA StrandWith the start of the next zman just days away, bochurim all across the New York area are taking care of last minute appointments and hundreds are expected to take advantage of Dor Yesharim’s life-saving genetic screening before heading back to yeshiva.

“Early screening gives you the ability to avoid the unnecessary heartache and aggravation of waiting for results while already in the process of shidduchim,” said a Dor Yesharim representative.  “We advise bochurim to seize this opportunity now while time is on their side.”

More than 30 years have elapsed since Dor Yeshorim was founded in an effort to prevent the recurrence of common genetic diseases, including Tay Sachs, and since its inception, Dor Yesharim has been widely credited with the virtual elimination of several devastating genetic diseases in the Jewish community.

The principle behind Dor Yeshorim is simple:  prevent the transmission of recessive genetic diseases by ensuring that two carriers do not marry.

The results have been astounding as Dor Yeshorim has become part of the shidduch protocol worldwide and over 20,000 young men and women are screened each year in eleven different countries. Dor Yeshorim’s mission is committed to serving not just those in shidduchim but all of klal yisroel by doing its part to ensure healthy generations for families who have children affected with genetic disorders.

Dor Yeshorim’s testing fee is subsidized by both donations and sponsorships in order to make screening available to everyone.
